This is an original oil painting on wood. It has thick oil that was applied with a palate knife technique to create the background, then the characters,designs and details were added with a variety of brush strokes. The wooden board has a nice 45 degree mitered edge that I painted in a bright red color to frame everything and also to compliment the black of the painting. This piece uses a lot of contrast between bright colors and heavy blacks.         The subject matter is also an interesting contrast of ancient looking warriors, and the main figure, who is more of a modern soldier.
